Our Houston team supports technically challenging projects requiring strong engineering judgment, practical design solutions, and close collaboration across disciplines. The position: As a Project Analyst, you will assess competitive landscapes and industry developments to identify opportunities, evaluate risks, and support strategic decision-making. You will conduct due diligence on potential project sites and partners, including assessing environmental, regulatory, and commercial considerations. You will also prepare reports summarizing key findings and recommendations and perform preliminary financial analysis, including LCOE calculations, to evaluate overall project viability. Key responsibilities include but are not limited to: Conduct comprehensive market research to identify trends, opportunities, and challenges within the ammonia, renewable energy, and e-fuels sectors. Analyze competitive landscapes and industry developments to inform strategic decision-making. Conduct thorough due diligence on potential project sites and partners, including analysis of input supply, potential offtake agreements, and overall financial feasibility. Gather and assess data related to environmental impact, regulatory requirements, and site suitability. Prepare detailed reports summarizing due diligence findings to support project development efforts and ensure alignment with strategic objectives. Perform rough financial modeling and analysis, including the calculation of levelized costs of energy (LCOE) and other key financial metrics. Support the development of project proformas and financial forecasts. Assist in assessing project viability and identifying potential financial risks. Collaborate with the team to create compelling development proposals aimed at generating new leads and filling our development pipeline. Tailor proposals to align with market demands and strategic objectives. Support the permitting process by researching relevant regulations and requirements for project approval. Collaborate with external consultants and regulatory agencies to ensure compliance with all necessary permitting requirements. Work closely with project developers, engineers, and other team members to support various aspects of project development. Communicate findings and insights effectively across the team and contribute to strategic discussions. Demonstrated ability to use AI tools for research, data analysis, and insights. Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in finance, Economics, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field. A graduate degree in Finance, Business Administration, or a related field is considered an asset. 4-6 years of relevant experience in project finance, project development, energy or infrastructure investment banking, corporate development, or energy transition advisory; or 2-4 years of relevant experience following completion of a graduate degree. Demonstrated experience developing or financing projects in the U.S. market, with a strong understanding of U.S. commercial, contracting, regulatory, and permitting practices. Demonstrated experience developing, owning, and defending project financial models from inception through completion. Strong working knowledge of the U.S. low-carbon energy market and its incentive framework, including RFS/RINs, 45Z, 45V, 45Q, state-level LCFS programs, and other relevant federal and state incentives. Proven ability to represent the company professionally and credibly in working sessions with external advisors, lenders, licensors, counterparties, and other stakeholders. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word. Demonstrated ability to effectively use AI tools to support research, data analysis, and decision-making.
