Step into a rewarding contract opportunity as a special education professional supporting young learners significantly impacted by autism and intellectual disabilities. This full-time position involves working in an elementary self-contained classroom (approximately eight students) alongside two dedicated assistants. Desired Qualifications:

  • Valid Texas EC-12 Special Education teaching license (be sure your credentials are up to date with the state education agency)
  • Experience working with elementary-aged students diagnosed with autism and intellectual disabilities
  • Background managing or co-leading a self-contained classroom setting
  • Strong skills in developing and implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with paraprofessional staff, families, and district professionals
  • Exceptional communication, organization, and problem-solving abilities
  • Commitment to fostering an inclusive and engaging classroom environment

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, execute, and adapt daily lessons tailored for a wide range of learning needs and abilities
  • Oversee and manage classroom operations in coordination with assistants to optimize student support
  • Conduct and document assessments, monitor student progress, and make data-driven instructional adjustments
  • Collaborate in developing and maintaining IEPs, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards
  • Cultivate positive relationships with students, families, and interdisciplinary teams
  • Maintain accurate records of student achievements, behavioral supports, and related documentation
  • Uphold district-required credentialing, including passing a background check and drug screening

This contract runs from late July through the end of May, following the regular school calendar and offering consistent weekday hours.
