Whether you will spend your day brainstorming in an office cubicle, operating a crane, running manufacturing equipment or troubleshooting technical obstacles, at CMC, you'll get the training and support from your team that you need to excel in your role and reach your full potential.What You'll DoAssist maintenance personnel when requested/neededWork safely to prevent on the job injuries by following safety rules and regulations at all times including proper wearing of company PPEEnsure equipment inspection reports are filled out each shiftPerform minor/routine maintenance or repairs as needed without the assistance of maintenance personnelResponsible for daily housekeeping duties including but not limited to immediate work areaUnderstand start up, shutdown, and emergency proceduresAssist Utility Operator and Assistant Furnace Operator with the exchanging of electrodesAssist Utility Operator with filling alloy, refractory, and carbon hoppers at furnaceAssist arc furnace personnel with between heat turnaroundsAssist the Furnace Operator when tapping electric arc furnaceAssist with cleaning and filling the tap hole after each heatClean, repair or replace tap holes and wall burners; build up around doors and properly plug tap holes to prevent metal loss while retaining the ability to open the tap hole when requiredCleans and prepares slide gates, furnaces, roofs, ladles, tundishes, covers, forms, etc for repair and relining and fabricationCut bricks to size, as required and cut notches or holds to provide for smoke control tap holes, tap mountings, heating elements, etcEnsure that all materials picked up and moved to the processing area are properly handled and locatedLays brick up in ladles, roofs, furnaces, tundishes, etc.Handle bricks by hand for multiple hours at a timeOperate cutting torch for operational needsPrepare thermocouples, oxygen probes, lances and test molds for useRepair or replace fire brick lining of ladles, furnace tap holes and spoutTake slag samples as requiredTake steel temperature in the tundishTrain in all areas of the Melt Shop to include Furnace, Ladle Furnace, Casting Machine, and RefractoriesUse temperature probes to monitor steel temperature in tundishWhat You'll NeedAbility to work as a team player in a fast-paced environment, with excellent strong work ethic, attention to detail, and organizational skillsAbility to work with exposure to extremes in temperature, chemical, dust fumes and mists, uneven surfaces, loud noise, elevated work areas, and confined spacesBasic computer skillsDependability in attendance, work completion, and flexibility to meet business needsMust be able to learn quickly and multitaskMust be able to lift up to 50 lbsSome overtime will be requiredWork on a rotating shift which may include weekends and holidaysYour EducationHigh School Diploma, GED, or equivalent experience preferredWe are CMC, a Fortune 500® company at the leading edge of our industry.
