Physical Therapist Assistant

The Physical Therapist Assistant provides skilled, rehabilitative treatment to patients with physical functioning disorders under the supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist. They support recovery and improve patient mobility through evidence-based interventions and clinical expertise.

Responsibilities

• Support patient rehabilitation by administering manual techniques, therapeutic exercises, modalities, and use of supportive devices.
• Assess patient progress regularly and communicate findings to the supervising Physical Therapist for treatment adjustments.
• Document all clinical activities, patient responses, and treatment minutes accurately in electronic health records.
• Educate and counsel patients, families, and caregivers regarding treatment plans, progress, and home care strategies.
• Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings, patient care conferences, and facility training sessions.
• Assist in coordinating equipment and supplies, including obtaining necessary DME as per clinical requirements.

Qualifications

• Hold an active state licensure as a Physical Therapist Assistant.
• Possess at least 1 year of PTA experience, preferably in LTC or rehab settings.
• Demonstrate proficiency in clinical documentation and regulatory compliance.
• Exhibit excellent communication skills to collaborate with healthcare team members.
• Be committed to adhering to APTA standards, professional ethics, and practice acts.
• Be able to supervise and guide students under the mentorship of a Physical Therapist.
