• Salary: $24.15–$37.43/hour (Based on years of experience) + Benefits

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Outpatient Coder to research codes and abstract medical information to ensure accurate, complete, and billable coding for outpatient and physician clinical services.

The position supports accurate reimbursement, identifies coding opportunities, monitors trends, and reports discrepancies and recommendations for improvement.

Candidates must live in Clark County, NV, or be willing to relocate before hire.

-> Key Responsibilities

• Research, review, and assign accurate outpatient/professional service codes.
• Capture physician/clinician services, including work, skill, and Medical Decision Making (MDM) .
• Code using CPT, HCPCS, and ICD-10-CM/PCS .
• Review and abstract clinical documentation for completeness and accuracy.
• Identify coding opportunities, trends, inconsistencies, and discrepancies.
• Run coding queries and review denials.
• Maintain established quality, accuracy, and productivity standards .
• Use 3M 360 or similar computer-assisted coding/encoder systems .
• Support revenue-cycle processes including charge capture, code edits, auditing, denials, and documentation improvement.
• Prepare reports and maintain strict confidentiality of patient and organizational information.

-> Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 2+ years of documented outpatient/professional coding experience , such as:
• • Physician office
  • Multidisciplinary medical practice
  • Orthopedics
  • Primary Care
  • Interventional Radiology
  • Emergency Department (ED)
  • Hospitalist services
  • Ambulatory Surgery Center
• Experience capturing physician/clinician work, skill, and MDM .
• One or more of the following certifications:
• • CCS – Certified Coding Specialist
  • CPC – Certified Professional Coder
  • COC – Certified Outpatient Coder
  • CCS-P – Certified Coding Specialist–Physician-based
  • RHIA – Registered Health Information Administrator
  • RHIT – Registered Health Information Technician

-> Knowledge & Skills

• Strong knowledge of outpatient coding, CPT, HCPCS, ICD-10-CM/PCS , and Medicare outpatient coding and reimbursement.
• Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, disease processes, and minor surgical procedures.
• Understanding of coding guidelines, EHR technology, revenue-cycle workflows, and documentation requirements.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to meet strict productivity and quality standards.
• Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently, maintain concentration for extended periods, and protect confidential information.
