Field Technology Specialist

Job Description Starting Date: Jul 1, 2026 School year: 2026‑27 244 days per year, 7.5 hours per day. Purpose Statement The Field Technology Specialist serves as the second step in the technology support process, assisting Site Technology Specialists and District Technology Staff in resolving technology issues and installing new equipment to support district educational goals. This position reports to the Technology Supervisor. Essential Functions Communicates orally and in writing with end users, technology staff, administrators, and other personnel to provide information, direction, and support throughout the district at multiple locations. Troubleshoots and provides timely assistance for escalated user technology issues, coordinating with higher levels and escalating help desk tickets as needed. Maintains records such as security access, licenses, help desk tickets, software usage, building technology equipment, and student enrollment in third‑party programs for reference and audit trails. Maintains software and related inventory to ensure current availability. Orders supplies or parts as needed to keep required materials available. Participates in meetings, workshops, and trainings to gather and convey information necessary to perform job functions. Prepares written materials—including procedures, documentation, reports, memos, and letters—to document activities and provide references. Provides technology training to Site Technology Specialists, other Field Technology Specialists, and end users as required. Receives, completes, and closes out assigned building technology service requests to provide support, technical advice, and operational assistance. Installs new technology such as computers, software, peripherals, projectors, smart boards, and telecommunications equipment as procured by the district. Other Functions Performs other related duties assigned by the Executive Director of Technology and/or the Coordinator of Technology Support to ensure efficient and effective functioning of the work unit. Job Requirements: Minimum Qualifications Skills, Knowledge and Abilities Skill-based competencies: teaching technical topics to non‑technical audiences, adhering to safety practices, planning and managing projects, and gathering information to diagnose problems. Knowledge: current‑generation and legacy computer operating systems, network and hardware troubleshooting techniques, network security, and office application software. Abilities: effective communication, ability to connect with people of varying technical levels, providing clear instructions, setting priorities, adaptability, detail orientation, teamwork, working independently, and self‑starter. Working Environment Travel is necessary between multiple locations using a personal vehicle. Physical demands include lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, climbing ladders; frequent stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling; significant fine‑finger dexterity. The job requires approximately 25% sitting, 40% walking, and 35% standing. Conditions may expose employees to risk of injury or illness and are conducted in a clean atmosphere. Experience Job‑related experience is required. Education Targeted job‑related education that meets the organization’s prerequisite requirements. Clearances Criminal Justice Fingerprint/Background Clearance. FLSA Status Non‑Exempt. Position Type Full‑Time Salary $24.04 to $34.00 per hour.
