GIS Analyst II

Purpose:


The GIS Analyst II is responsible for managing, maintaining, and optimizing geospatial data and workflows across multiple engineering and operational projects. This role utilizes both desktop and web-based GIS applications to visualize, analyze, and share geospatial information internally and externally.

The GIS Analyst II works collaboratively with the GIS team, engineering, and project management groups, providing technical guidance, workflow improvements, and automation solutions to enhance efficiency and data integrity. This position requires advanced technical expertise in GIS data management, schema development, and spatial analysis, along with a strong ability to communicate and train others.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

• Edit, update, and manage GIS data in related platforms.
• Develop and maintain databases and data models to ensure consistency and standardization.
• Perform data conversions, exports, and translations
• Generate map products, dashboards, and web applications to support engineering and project teams.
• Provide technical support and training for GIS Portal users and internal stakeholders.
• Conduct QA/QC reviews to ensure data completeness, accuracy, and integrity across projects.
• Utilize Geoprocessing tools and spatial analysis to solve complex spatial problems and support decision-making.
• Develop and document workflows, procedures, and system specifications for project implementation and process improvement.
• Interact with clients, subcontractors, and project teams to ensure reliable and efficient data integration and transfer.
• Identify and implement new GIS workflows to increase efficiency, accuracy, and team collaboration.
• Mentor and train GIS Technicians and Analysts on data standards, tools, and system usage.

• Effectiveness of automation and workflow improvements
• Quality and integrity of SDE database structures
• Internal stakeholder and client satisfaction with GIS support
• Adherence to data and documentation standards

Requirements

Education: Bachelor's degree in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Geospatial Sciences, or related technical field , or equivalent experience.

Experience:

• Minimum 6+ years of professional GIS experience, preferably in engineering, utilities, or telecommunications.
• Advanced proficiency in Field Maps environments.
• Strong knowledge of spatial analysis, schema design, and database management.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to see high-level project goals while managing detailed technical execution.
• Telecom industry experience or familiarity with telecommunications data preferred.

Exposure

• Frequent collaboration with Engineering, Project Management, and Field Operations teams.
• Interaction with clients, subcontractors, and external data providers.
• Exposure to telecommunications infrastructure data, GIS system architecture, and process automation initiatives.

Physical Requirements :

• Primarily office-based with extended use of a computer.
• Must be able to sit for long periods and occasionally lift up to 25 lbs.
• Occasional travel for training or team coordination may be required.
