Colorado Resources Business Group Manager

HDR is seeking a strong, experienced individual for the position of Area Resources Business Group Manager. This role leads our team in the Colorado marketplace, managing professional services in the Power, Waste, Industrial, and Federal industries, and supporting HDR’s teams in these markets through operations, business development, team development and overall program growth. The position is based in downtown Denver and requires periodic travel across the area. Responsibilities Take responsibility for operations including staff development, profitability, morale, quality control and marketing support. Act as a Client and Project Manager, overseeing client service and project delivery in addition to business group management responsibilities. Administer staff and technical service functions and coordinate services with other business groups. Lead business development planning, proposals and interviews. Ensure work is planned, organized, controlled, delivered with quality, and evaluated through a proactive project management system. Implement, monitor and support company policy. Select, train, develop, manage and coach project delivery personnel. Manage and develop multidiscipline teams. Collaborate with Area Business Group leaders, National Directors and marketing leadership in local and national client development. Collaborate with Business Group Market Sector Directors and the Regional Business Group Director to bring the Power, Waste, Industrial, and Federal market sector vision to the local marketplace. Perform other duties as needed. Primary Roles and Responsibilities Leadership – Provides leadership and direction in executing strategy and initiatives in coordination with other Area, Business Group and Market Sector Leadership. Controlling – Responsible for operational metrics for the Area Resources Business Group, adjusting the plan to meet expectations. Staffing – Assists in prioritizing hires, identifying and recruiting candidates. Client Management Leadership and Assistance – Collaborates with staff to define and engage clients within the Area and develop client development plans. Alignment of Resources – Coordinates internal resources to client needs and achievement of goals. Proactive Engagement – Consistently demonstrates a can‑do problem‑solving approach to colleagues and clients. Quality – Consistently focuses on quality deliverables, including proposals, reports, financials and project deliverables that adhere to the quality management system. Secondary Responsibilities Monitor and communicate progress toward period and annual net fee bookings goals and other key metrics. Work closely with sector business development leaders to observe trends, adjust projections, and make required alterations to plan to achieve year‑over‑year goals and cost management targets. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Science or closely related discipline. A minimum of 15 years of relevant industry experience in power, solid waste, industrial, mining, oil and gas, or other related industries. Solid experience managing staff, clients, contracts and hiring for an engineering consulting or similar firm. Demonstrated experience leading and growing diverse teams. Ability and dedication to continue growing the area's Resources Business Group team. Proven marketing and business development skills with contacts/relationships with clients in the industry. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Demonstrated team building capabilities. Ability to handle multiple assignments effectively and balance multiple demands. A positive professional reputation for delivering quality, cost‑effective projects. Actively engaged in professional or industry associations to enhance HDR technical expertise and brand. Commitment to quality, process improvement and HDR values. Ability to work cooperatively with regional and local office managers, other area business group directors, technical directors and marketing managers. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in a Professional, Architecture, Engineering or closely related field. A minimum of 10 years of experience. Demonstrated experience leading diverse teams. Ability to work cooperatively with regional and local office managers, other area business group directors, technical directors and marketing managers.
