Registered Nurse - Inpatient Staff

Job Title

The duties of this position include, but are not limited to:

• Provide fundamental knowledge-based care to assigned patients under close supervision.
• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized care based on age-specific needs.
• Administer medications and perform procedures per established policies and guidelines.
• Assume responsibility for care coordination, focusing on patient education and self-management.
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to influence care outcomes.
• Participate in the development, implementation, and evaluation of interdisciplinary care plans.
• Establish therapeutic relationships that enable optimal patient functioning.
• Communicate effectively and respectfully with patients, families, and staff.
• Incorporate patient and family knowledge, values, and beliefs into care planning.
• Delegate elements of care based on patient needs, safety, and team member capability.
• Organize and complete assigned tasks efficiently.
• Demonstrate positive behaviors that promote teamwork.
• Participate in orientation, unit-based educational activities, and ongoing continuing education.
• Maintain competency for continued personal and professional growth.
• Apply evidence-based practice and research findings to patient care.
• Participate in unit-based performance improvement and cost-effective care initiatives.
• Incorporate patient preferences into shared decision-making.
• Meet the needs of Veterans, families, visitors, and staff with courtesy and respect.
• Handle conflicts and problems constructively and appropriately.
• Demonstrate sensitivity to age, developmental, and cultural needs of a diverse patient population.
• Protect sensitive data in accordance with the Privacy Act and VA policies.
• Report any information security or privacy incidents immediately.
• Additional duties as assigned.
