Payroll Technician

Job TitleProcess and monitor a variety of payroll information. Enter required data into the system where applicable. Ensure timely and accurate bi-weekly payroll runs for over 2,400 employees.Essential FunctionsProcess bi-weekly maintenance (child support, IRS levies, bankruptcy levies, direct deposit, deferred comp, W-4s and credit union, etc.);Process annual maintenance (United Way, W-2's);Process employment verifications;Prepare and post journal entries to record premium revenue in Self-Insurance Health Fund;Provide exemplary customer service – daily interaction with employees;Monitor time from Kronos timekeeping system;Generate reports from Kronos to help facilitate an accurate payroll run;Run integration process/import from Kronos timekeeping system to our JDE E-1 financial systemProcess payments and reconcile for various payroll vendors, e.g., deferred compensation and voluntary benefit products. Involves uploading to vendor websites and processing vendor feedback files;Perform a variety of clerical duties;Perform related duties as needed.QualificationsCompletion of a high school diploma or the equivalent with an additional three to six years of responsible clerical or financial recordkeeping experience; or any combination of relevant education and experience which provides the following:Knowledge and AbilitiesKnowledge of:Basic principles and practices for payroll processing.Ability to:Operate a computer terminal for data input;Understand and apply a variety of policies and procedures related to payroll processing;Accurately complete and enter payroll documents;Work effectively with employees and supervisors;Communicate effectively with others.Physical RequirementsFrequently lift and carry up to 10 pounds;Occasionally lift and carry up to 25 pounds;Stand and walk during the shift;Occasionally bend and kneel during the shift;Place arms above, at or below shoulder height.
