Food Service AssociateUnder close supervision, the Food Service Associate performs a variety of food service duties.Position DetailsBarista & Food ServiceFull Time, 40 hours per weekPay Rate: Based on Experience ($17.68 - $22.99)Availability Needed: Sunday-Saturday for variable shifts between 6am-10:30pmShifts Assigned: 6am-2:30pm, 2pm-10:30pmBenefits Eligible: Yes; Medical, Dental, Vision, Education Assistance.As a Barista you need to know how toTake orders for coffee, espresso and beverage offeringsOperate cash register, handle cash from guest transactions in a careful and accurate manner and follow all cash handling proceduresEnsure beverages maintain consistency and follows drink recipes for accuracyKeep work area clean at all times and ensure the customer service area is free of contaminants.Understand the necessary functions of operating & cleaning procedures such as opening and closing, quality assurance of all products, and maintenance of equipment and cleaning.Essential FunctionsDelivers and presents trays to patients using the standard process.Maintains customer satisfaction, service, and identify problem resolutions independently, and escalating as necessaryEnsuring compliance with provincial or territorial food safety regulationsKnows menu, portion, and price prior to meal service to provide appropriate service to customers, including answering questions and serving food.Performs food preparation functions according to system standards (following standard recipe, assembling ingredients) for example, prepares salads, sandwiches, vegetables, and fruit.Understands modified diets and prepares modified recipes using appropriate techniques.Follows standardized practices relating to Nutrition Services (e.g. dining experience, meal delivery, maintaining required stock levels)Maintains department area including cleaning and sanitizing surfaces, floor care, and equipment (oven, fryer, hoods).Performs accurate cash/credit transactions according to system standards and independently resolves basic customer service issues.SkillsActive ListeningCoordinating & prioritizing tasks with othersCustomer Service & Resolution FocusCommunicates clearlyAttention to detailAdaptabilitySituational AwarenessMinimum QualificationsFood Handler Permit or ServSafe certification is required by first day of work (required)Basic computer skills (required)At least (6) months of Barista experience (preferred)High School Diploma or equivalent (preferred)Related experience or training (preferred)At least six (6) months of retail experience (preferred)Physical Requirements:Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, monitors, identify equipment and supplies, and be able to assess customer needs.Frequent interactions with customers that require employee to communicate as well as understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately.Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer, phone, and cable set-up and use.Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transport, pull, and push equipment. Will also work on hands and knees and bend to set-up, troubleshoot, lift, and carry supplies and equipment.
