Property Accountant

Kforce has a client that is seeking a Property Accountant in Alexandria, VA.Summary:We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Property Accountant to join our accounting team. The Property Accountant will be responsible for the financial reporting, accounting, and reconciliation activities for a portfolio of properties. This role works closely with property management and finance teams to ensure accurate financial records, timely reporting, and compliance with company policies and accounting standards. The ideal candidate will possess strong accounting fundamentals, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare and maintain monthly financial statements for an assigned portfolio of properties
• Record and reconcile general ledger transactions
• Prepare and post journal entries
• Perform monthly bank reconciliations and account reconciliations
• Assist with month end and year end close processes
• Analyze operating expenses, revenues, and variances
• Review accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions for accuracy
• Track and account for capital expenditures and fixed assets
• Support annual budget preparation and forecasting activities
• Ensure compliance with accounting policies, internal controls, and reporting requirements
• Coordinate with property managers regarding financial performance and operational questions
• Assist with external audits and tax preparation requests
• Maintain accurate financial records and supporting documentation
• Identify discrepancies and resolve accounting issues in a timely manner

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
• 2+ years of accounting experience, preferably within real estate, property management, or property accounting
• Experience preparing financial statements and reconciliations
• Experience working with accounting software or ERP systems
• Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, including formulas, Pivot Tables, and data analysis functions
• Strong analytical, problem solving, and organizational skills
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities simultaneously

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.

Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
