Nurse Practitioner - Psychiatric (Safety)

The Nurse Practitioner - Psychiatric (Safety) will be supervised by a Senior Psychiatrist Supervisor and may receive clinical supervison from a Staff Psychiatrist in the Medical Staff Department at the Department of State Hospitals - Atascadero (ASH). The incumbent will be responsible for the following duties but not limited to:


• Provides clinical assessment and case management services to patients.

• Interacts with unit staff and assigned patients on a variety of daily psychiatric issues.

• Provides required documentation and reports.

• Participates in medical staff activities and serves on committees.

• Participates in departmental and hospital wide shakedowns.

IMPORTANT: The Medical Staff of the Department of State Hospitals - Atascadero requires Nurse Practitioner (Safety) - Psychiatric candidates meet the Medical Staff criteria for privileging set forth in the facility Bylaws.


The Medical Staff requires proof of program completion (official transcripts and program completion certificate) in PMHNP and the NP must have their National Certification (from AANP or ANCC) before a start date can be established.
