The Assistant Warehouse Manager is responsible for leading the day-to-day execution of warehouse operations, ensuring inventory is received, stored and shipped accurately and efficiently. This role serves as the primary floor leader, directing Warehouse Associates while supporting inventory accuracy, operational excellence and a safe working environment.

Reporting to the Warehouse Manager, the Assistant Warehouse Manager partners closely with warehouse leadership to improve productivity, maintain operational standards and ensure an exceptional fulfillment experience.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities 

Warehouse Operations:

• Oversee daily warehouse activities including receiving, picking, packing and shipping.
• Assign daily priorities and workloads to Warehouse Associates.
• Monitor order fulfillment to ensure accuracy, quality and on-time shipment.
• Maintain warehouse organization and efficient product flow.
• Ensure proper handling, storage and movement of inventory.

Team Leadership:

• Provide day-to-day leadership and direction to Warehouse Associates.
• Train, onboard and coach warehouse team members.
• Reinforce company policies, SOPs and warehouse safety procedures.
• Foster a positive, accountable and collaborative team environment.
• Support employee development through ongoing coaching and feedback.

Inventory Management:

• Support inventory accuracy through cycle counts, receiving verification and inventory audits.
• Investigate inventory discrepancies and escalate issues when appropriate.
• Ensure accurate receiving, labeling and storage of inbound inventory.
• Assist with inventory transfers, replenishment and warehouse organization.

Operational Excellence:

• Identify opportunities to improve warehouse efficiency and workflow.
• Support implementation of operational process improvements.
• Maintain warehouse cleanliness utilizing 5S principles.
• Monitor productivity and communicate operational challenges proactively.
• Ensure compliance with all safety standards and operating procedures.

Leadership Support:

• Serve as acting warehouse leader in the absence of the Warehouse Manager.
• Assist with scheduling and labor planning.
• Support KPI tracking and operational reporting.
• Partner with the Warehouse Manager on continuous improvement initiatives and special projects.

Skills and Qualifications  

• Minimum 3 years of warehouse, fulfillment or distribution experience.
• Minimum 1 year of leadership or supervisory experience
• Preferred High School Diploma 
• Managed at least 3 warehouse associates 
• Experience with inventory control, receiving and fulfillment operations.
• Demonstrated ability to lead teams in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work on your feet for extended periods.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office (or the equivalent) and inventory management software  
• Strong communication, interpersonal skills, leadership, and conflict resolution
• Strong knowledge of modern practices and methods 
• Critical thinking ability and proactive approach to problem-solving
• Familiarly with inbound and outbound operations of fulfillment center 
• Proven warehouse experience
• Team player with organizational skills
