Senior Financial Report Developer & Analyst

Soni is partnering with an established law firm seeking a Senior Finance & Business Intelligence Analyst to develop financial reporting and analysis that supports strategic business decisions. This role combines hands-on SQL and business intelligence expertise with financial analysis across clients, matters, practices, and offices.
Responsibilities
- Develop and enhance financial reports and dashboards to support business and leadership decisions.
- Write SQL queries to retrieve, combine, validate, and analyze data from financial systems.
- Analyze client and matter profitability, practice performance, and timekeeper productivity.
- Evaluate billing, collections, accounts receivable, WIP, pricing, and realization trends.
- Translate business reporting needs into practical data and reporting solutions.
- Automate and standardize recurring reports to improve efficiency and accuracy.
- Investigate reporting discrepancies and reconcile information across multiple data sources.
- Support budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and special finance projects.
- Partner with Finance and other business teams to deliver timely, actionable analysis.
Qualifications
- Prior law firm experience required, preferably in financial analysis, FP&A, profitability, business intelligence, or management reporting.
- Strong hands‑on SQL skills, including independently writing queries and working with relational databases.
- Advanced Excel skills, including large datasets, complex formulas, and pivot‑based analysis.
- Strong understanding of law firm financial metrics, including WIP, receivables, realization, billing rates, and client/matter profitability.
- Experience with Power BI, SSRS, or similar reporting tools.
- Strong analytical, communication, and problem‑solving skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Economics, Analytics, or a related field.
- Experience with Aderant or another legal accounting platform is strongly preferred.
Compensation
$180,000-200,000
Salary is based on a range of factors that include relevant experience, knowledge, skills, other job‑related qualifications.
