JOB TITLE: In Home Caregiver

 

SUMMARY: Provides direct care to residents in the facility, primarily for their activities of daily living, assistance with therapeutic activities program, restorative programs, and documentation as required by the facility.

• Provide companionship and engage in meaningful interactions with residents.
• Assist with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility support.
• Prepare and serve meals, ensuring dietary restrictions and preferences are followed.
• Perform light housekeeping duties, including laundry, tidying, and maintaining a clean and safe living environment.
• Assist with medication reminders and monitor residents’ health conditions, reporting any changes to the appropriate medical staff or family members.
• Provide transportation or accompany residents to appointments, errands, or recreational activities, as needed.
• Follow individualized care plans and maintain accurate records of services provided.
• Uphold residents’ dignity, privacy, and independence while fostering a warm and respectful relationship.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES This summarizes the major essential duties and responsibilities regularly performed and normally assigned to this position. LANGUAGE SKILLS : Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. 

REASONING ABILITY: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in, written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. 

*COMPUTER SKILLS: Proficiency with Microsoft software (Word, Excel, etc.). Familiar with telephone equipment and other various office equipment.

*CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS : Must meet all local health regulations, and pass post-offer and employment physician exam, if required.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities. Ability to work in a fast paced and quick changing environment.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, use hands to fingers, talk and hear, reach with hands and arms, bend at the knees. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up a minimum of 75 lbs and frequently will be required to move or lift larger amounts of weight. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus. 

WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee will work in a clean, well-lighted and well-ventilated building The noise level in the work environment ranges from quiet (ex: private off) to moderate (ex: business office with computers and office equipment, light traffic).

OSHA EXPOSURE RISK CATEGORY: Level 2. Work environment involves slight physical risks that require following basic safety precautions (wearing safety glasses, lab coats, and so on). 

OTHER WORK REQUIREMENTS: Must possess and exhibit a strong positive attitude toward customer service and have a genuine interest in geriatric care and uphold the philosophy of the community. Understands complies with and promotes all rules regarding residents’ rights; promotes positive relationships with residents, visitors, and regulators, to include presenting a professional appearance and attitude.
