DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this position, you will serve as a Lieutenant, performing administrative and supervisory duties that support the care, custody, and control of inmates. Your work will involve guiding subordinate officers. You help maintain order, structure, and professionalism throughout the institution.

As a Corrections Officer 3, you will perform the following duties:

• Staff Supervision: Assign tasks to officers and monitor their performance
• Facility Oversight: Inspect work areas and housing units to ensure alertness and compliance of officers
• Inmate Management: Coordinate inmate movements and observe behavior for safety concerns
• Operational Coordination: Oversee schedules and ensure major activities receive proper supervision
• Policy Enforcement: Investigate staff violations and participate in disciplinary actions

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

• Full-time employment, 40 hours per week.
• Work hours to be determined, with set days off.
  • Set days off to be determined.
• This position is eligible for retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.
• Alternate Work Schedule (AWS) available after 6 months of employment.
• Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

• One year as a Corrections Officer 2 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
• Four years of experience in corrections security work in a Pennsylvania state or county corrections facility. (Note: Persons seeking employment under this option will be required to successfully complete, or have completed, a training program conducted by the Department of Corrections.)

Other Requirements:

• Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
• PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
• You must be able to perform essential job functions.
