Role Description The Proposal Writer is a full‑time, on‑site role based in Raleigh, NC. This team member develops, writes, and edits persuasive proposals and qualifications packages for planning, engineering, environmental, and construction management pursuits. Daily responsibilities include coordinating with technical staff and project managers to gather content, interpreting requests for proposals (RFPs), and organizing information into clear, compliant, and compelling responses. The Proposal Writer drafts project descriptions, resumes, and cover letters; tailors boilerplate content; and ensures consistency in tone, style, and branding. The role also involves maintaining proposal templates and content libraries, tracking deadlines and submissions, supporting interview preparation materials, and collaborating with marketing colleagues to improve overall proposal quality and win rates. Qualifications Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills, with the ability to synthesize technical information into clear, concise, and persuasive content. Experience in proposal development, preferably responding to public‑sector RFPs, RFQs, or SOQs in architecture, engineering, or construction (AEC) or related professional services. Proficiency with document layout and formatting in tools such as Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Adobe Acrobat; experience with InDesign or other desktop publishing software is a plus. Excellent project coordination, organization, and time‑management skills, including the ability to manage multiple deadlines and work in a fast‑paced environment. Comfort collaborating with diverse stakeholders, including technical staff, project managers, and leadership, and the ability to receive and incorporate feedback constructively. High attention to detail, commitment to quality, and a solutions‑focused mindset aligned with RK&K’s client‑service and community‑focused culture. Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Marketing, Journalism, Business, or a related field; equivalent relevant experience will be considered.
