The Underground Driller Helper plays a crucial role in supporting drilling operations by assisting skilled drillers in the setup, operation, and maintenance of underground drilling equipment. This position ensures that drilling activities are conducted safely, efficiently, and in compliance with all regulatory standards. The role involves preparing the drilling site, handling tools and materials, and monitoring equipment performance to prevent downtime. The Underground Driller Helper contributes to the overall success of projects by maintaining clear communication with team members and promptly addressing any operational issues. This position offers an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the drilling industry and develop technical skills essential for career advancement.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks and work in various weather conditions.
- Basic understanding of safety procedures related to construction or drilling environments.
- Willingness to learn and follow instructions carefully.
- Valid driver’s license.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience in construction, mining, or drilling operations preferred but not essential.
- Familiarity with underground drilling equipment and tools.
- Ability to read and interpret basic technical drawings or instructions.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in the setup and breakdown of drilling equipment at underground sites.
- Support drillers by handling tools, supplies, and materials required for drilling operations.
- Monitor drilling equipment during operation to identify and report any malfunctions or safety concerns.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment to promote safety and efficiency.
- Follow all safety protocols and regulatory guidelines to ensure a safe working environment.
- Communicate effectively with team members to coordinate tasks and respond to operational needs.
- Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of drilling equipment under supervision.
Skills:
The required skills enable the Underground Driller Helper to safely and efficiently assist in drilling operations by understanding and following safety protocols and operational instructions. Physical stamina and manual dexterity are essential for handling tools and equipment in challenging underground environments. Preferred skills such as familiarity with drilling equipment and safety certifications enhance the ability to anticipate operational needs and contribute to problem-solving on site. Effective communication skills are used daily to coordinate with drillers and other team members, ensuring smooth workflow and quick response to any issues.
