Canam Bridges designs, manufactures and installs steel bridges for major infrastructure contractors across North America. As a Metrology Technician at Canam Bridges, you will be responsible for taking factory measurements using "Station Total" and "Laser Tracker Faro" surveying tools. Your analytical mind will allow you to use your 3D vision superpowers to complete dimensional measurements. To break your routine, you will alternate between taking factory measurements, recording data, and writing reports. Your computer knowledge will make you an expert in AutoCAD and Polyworks. Assist Plant Manager and production staff in developing production plans, ensure production objectives are met, offer recommendations, and implement production events and programs. The individual is responsible for performing such work consistent with the company's corporate mission, values, and departmental financial objectives.

Essential functions:

• Assist in the production-planning process, schedules, assignments, and production sequences to meet production goals.
• Read and analyze data, production schedules, and other records and reports to determine production productivity and to evaluate current production estimates and outputs.
• Identify direct and indirect labor issues and production problems, make recommendations, and assist management in developing a corrective action plan.
• Compile production planning notes, sketches, prints, schedules, contract documents and specifications into a formal build plan.
• Aid in the detailing and manipulation of models to accommodate additional views for fabrication per planning session. Assist on designing fixtures and jigs to aid fabrication.
• Responsible for conventional and CNC machining, to include managing direct labor to accomplish coverage on equipment in support of production needs.
• Train and assist production members in the operation of conventional and CNC machining equipment in line with formal build plans.
• Perform other job duties as assigned by the Plant Manager.

Qualifications:

• Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school and/or experience in detailing and fabrication.
• Must be able to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to production or productivity problems.
• Experience with AutoCAD, Tekla, FeatureCam, Polyworks, Station Total, Laser Tracker Faro, and other programs preferred.
• Ability to communicate information and ideas in speaking so others will understand.
• Analyze information and evaluate results to choose the best solution and solve problems.
• Must be able to schedule events, programs, and activities, as well as the work of others.
• Job requires a willingness to lead, take charge, and offer opinions and direction.

Physical Demands: The ability to stand continuously is essential with occasional walking and sitting. The nature of the position will require the employee to perform a wide range of physical activities ranging from pushing and pulling, lifting and carrying heavy objects (60100 lb) to climbing, crouching, kneeling, bending and handling. Repetitive finger motions are required. Vision requirements include, close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus.

Work Environment: Works near moving mechanical parts and in extremes of temperature, sometimes outside; is regularly exposed to fumes or airborne particles; there is occasional exposure to risk of flash burn of the eyes and exposed skin; the noise level in the work environment is generally very loud.
