Under supervision of the Maintenance Supervisor, the Maintenance Tech performs a variety of facility maintenance tasks and repairs to ensure safe, functional, and compliant facilities for supported individuals and staff. The Maintenance Tech responds to routine and emergency maintenance requests and completes repairs across multiple building sites and systems while following safety and agency standards.

Duties, Responsibilities, and Essential Functions:

• Completes tasks and repairs indicated on work orders through company phone, emails, and assignments.
• Collaborates with the Supervisor and other maintenance workers to determine the best course of action for required tasks.
• Assess properties and prepares tools and materials to complete property, furniture, or other needed repairs.
• Ensures plumbing and plumbing equipment are working properly; completes repairs to plumbing as needed.
• Repairs sheetrock, spackles, and paints (interior and exterior) as needed.
• Inspects, repairs, and installs electrical equipment/appliances, light switches, light fixtures, and light bulbs ensuring that the breaker is working properly when an electric issue arises.
• Partners with contractors to coordinate and monitor maintenance and repair activities, ensuring quality workmanship and timely completion at the assigned site.
• Transports furniture, equipment, appliances, and other items to assist with moves and relocations as needed.
• Repairs locks and security systems as needed.
• Troubleshoots mechanical issues with equipment/appliances.
• Inspects heating and cooling systems, dryers, generators, and fire safety equipment and completes repairs or escalates issues as appropriate.
• Performs basic HVAC repairs and escalates issues as appropriate.
• Follows procedures for careful handling of materials, tools, and equipment as indicated by OSHA.
• Ensures that water temperature and fire extinguishers operate per agency regulations.
• Assists in maintaining assigned location in a neat, orderly, and safe manner, and reports all repairs and safety violations in a timely manner as per program specific needs.
• Responds quickly and calmly to emergency requests.
• Communicates effectively with visitors, contractors, vendors, and delivery people to best address concerns and questions to ensure positive and accurate results.
• Responds to emergency situations in accordance with established agency policies and procedures, provides operational coverage until appropriately relieved, and ensures timely communication and coordination throughout the incident.
• Ensures that walkways, entryways, driveways, and parking lots are shoveled or plowed at assigned properties to avoid injuries during emergency inclement weather.
• Ensures that all required documentation (paper and electronic) is completed/processed appropriately, in a timely manner, and meets quality and compliance thresholds.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Education: High School Diploma or equivalent education required.
• Experience: Minimum of one (1) year of experience in a maintenance field or mechanical repair work, such as carpentry, plumbing, painting, and/or electrical work, required.
• Specialized Training, Licenses, Certifications: Not required, training will be provided upon hire as needed.
• Knowledge, Skills, Competencies, and Abilities: Functional proficiency in spoken and written English; Knowledge and experience in the operation of power equipment and machines preferred; Knowledge of wallboard repair and painting preferred; Basic knowledge of electrical work, carpentry, plumbing, and installing sheet rock preferred; Proficient computer skills preferred; Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment with flexibility, keeping others informed and anticipating needs is essential; Must be efficient, organized, and have good communication skills.
• Other Requirements: Valid driver's license and satisfy criteria to be a driver for FREE required; Must be able to accommodate flexible schedule (ex: early mornings, evenings, or occasional weekends).

Work Environment:

This role is performed in-person with daily travel between FREE locations and/or home improvement stores required. A company vehicle and cell phone will be provided. Work location varies based on assigned caseload. Work environments may include working with hazardous chemicals or materials, loud noises, and equipment that is both automatic and manual.

Physical Requirements:

• Employee is required to sit, walk, and stand for prolonged period of time (at least 8 hours).
• Employee is required to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
• Employee is required to operate standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, fax and filing cabinets.
• Employee is required to reach with hands and arms.
• Employee is required to bend, stoop, kneel, crouch or stand on a stool as needed.
• Employee is required to be able to lift 50 pounds at a time.
