Our team solves tough, meaningful problems that create a safer, more secure world.The Precision Control Actuation System department is seeking a mechanical design engineer to join the multi-disciplinary PCAS organization to support the development, build, and verification of control actuation systems. The PCAS organization staffs mechanical engineers for a variety of roles supporting primarily control section Integrated Product Teams.What You Will DoYou will provide various mechanical engineering support as needs of programs fluctuate. Based on skillsets, support may include but not limited to detailed mechanical design, earned value management, test design and execution, and systems engineering.You will be expected to flex responsibilities based on the current needs of the organization and their respective skill sets.At this grade level, you will be expected to work autonomously, have expert level knowledge within the control mechanism development domain, and assist in developing strategic vision for functional and organizational strategies of the PCAS organization, beyond assigned program work.What You Will LearnThe PCAS organization provides ample opportunities for hands-on hardware work.PCAS mechanical engineers are exposed to a variety of lab activities including engineering builds, hardware integration, hardware tuning, and hardware verification.The PCAS organization provides a strong technical learning environment with a dedicated control system technology pyramid comprised of engineering fellows.PCAS mechanical engineers are provided the opportunity for direct access to these subject matter experts, fostering accelerated technical growth.Qualifications You Must HaveEducation: B.S. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Math or related science degreeA minimum of 8 years of experience in mechanical engineering design or 5 years related experience with an advance degree.Experience in mechanical mechanism design OR flight control systems for aerospace applications OR Mechanical Engineering of servo controlsQualifications We PreferExperience with development of CAS requirements, CAS architecture, requirements risk, requirements verification and validation, system performance & function, safety and environmental compliance.Experience in working with control actuation systems that employ permanent magnet brush and brushless DC motor technologyExperience with feedback control systems, including sizing, testing and integration, design-for-manufacturing, kinematic and dynamic simulation and analysisProficient in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing per ASME Y14.5Proven ability to deconstruct higher level tasks into discrete lower level work packages and tasksProficient in generating free body diagramsProficient in Engineering processes and proceduresModerate 3D modeling skills with a prominent commercial software packageExperience with Pro/Engineer/CREO 3D modeling and mechanical drawing generation.Experience using Matlab, Simulink, and dSpaceProven design and manufacturing knowledge in machined parts, injection molded parts, hobbing, broaching, sheet metal fabrication, BLDC motors, wire harnesses/flex harnesses and related components, corrosion resistant steels and aluminum alloysWhat We OfferOur values drive our actions, behaviors, and performance with a vision for a safer, more connected world. This includes all production and maintenance employees, as they are essential to the development of our products.The salary range for this role is 101,000 USD - 203,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
