WAYNE TOWNSHIP PUBLIC SCHOOLS Wayne, New Jersey JOB DESCRIPTION TITLE: C-100 - Speech and Language Specialist EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: 1. New Jersey License in Speech/Language Pathology 2. New Jersey Department of Education Standard Certificate as a Speech/Language Specialist.
REPORTS TO: Building Principal, Director of Student Support Services JOB GOAL: To serve under the Department of Student Support Services to promote the development of communication, language, oral motor, and auditory skills. All responsibilities will be conducted in a manner consistent with the regulations outlined in the NJ Administrative Code Title 6A Chapter 14.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Participates as a Child Study Team member when students with communication disorders are referred to the Team.
2. Conducts Speech Evaluations in a manner consistent with the administrative code.
3. Designs and implements an individualized therapy program for students eligible for Speech/Language services as evidenced by weekly lesson plans.
4. Provides group or individual therapy sessions.
5. Collaborates with staff to promote Speech/Language development in the classroom.
6. Functions as case manager for students eligible for Speech services only.
7. Schedules and conducts IEP meetings for students eligible for Speech only services.
8. Attends IEP meetings when able/requested for students eligible for Special Education and/or related services. 9. Provides progress reports in alignment with report card timelines.
10. Completes Individualized Education programs (IEP) for students identified as eligible for Speech only and/or eligible for Special Education and/or Related Services.
11. Monitors student progress as it relates to mastery of IEP Speech/Language and oral motor goals. 12. Collaborates with school personnel to organize, schedule, and refine Speech/Language/Oral Motor/Hearing services district wide.
13. Maintains confidential records on all referred students as electronic documents.
14. Maintains confidential records on all students Eligible for Speech Services Only as hard copies and electronic documents.
15. Maintains attendance and service provider logs.
16. Attends departmental related services providers meetings.
17. Responsible for completing ongoing requirements needed to maintain NJ Speech/Language Specialist Certificate and License in Speech Pathology.
18. Provides thorough and timely reports, data, and other related information to the Supervisor of Special Services and the Director of Student Support Services.
19. Performs other duties and responsibilities as needed and assigned by the Director of Student Support Services.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Salary and work year to be determined by the Board of Education. This position is part of the Wayne Education Association. ANNUAL EVALUATION: Performance of this position will be evaluated annually in accordance with the Board's policy on the evaluation of certificated staff.

4. Exposure to a building in which a variety of chemical substances are used for cleaning, instruction, and/or operation of equipment
5. Function in a workplace that is usually moderately quiet but that can be noisy at times
