Responsibilities Asset Protection Communicate with leadership regarding encounters and investigations Maintain a professional relationship with local authorities and law enforcement agencies Collaborate with law enforcement and other local retailers to identify organized retail crime threats Assist leadership with cash handling and transfers Observe customers and associates for potential acts of theft or fraud Take appropriate action to prevent theft and apprehend individuals when prevention is not effective Conduct surveillance and apprehend external theft suspects in compliance with company standards Monitor video via CCTV and conduct on‑site interviews Maintain all apprehension and investigation records according to company standards Develop and maintain knowledge and use of CCTV surveillance equipment Assist in monitoring store compliance with company policies related to theft deterrence, safety, and operational controls Maintain a high visible deterrent to crime and positively influence the security incident rate and inventory controls Safety Help mitigate security risks to provide a safer environment for employees and customers Welcome all customers, visitors, and vendors professionally and assist them in locating staff within the stores Issue electric handicapped shopping carts to customers and assist in obtaining wheelchairs and shopping carts Examine and properly tag property being brought into the store, including personal property, equipment, and firearms Watch facilities and parking areas on foot, directing traffic during special events or heavy customer traffic, and enforcing parking regulations Make regularly scheduled floor and exterior walks to ensure safety of customers and facility Complete monthly reports on safe or unsafe practices found on the sales floor or backstocks First Responder Help customers and staff with vehicle break‑downs and lock‑outs and retrieve shopping carts from parking areas React as necessary and assist in handling shoplifting, medical emergencies, and inclement weather situations Work assigned schedules that may include varied hours, evenings, weekends, and holidays Requirements Customer Service Genuinely and consistently treat co‑workers, customers, and business partners as the most important person, using eye contact, a smile, and a genuine "Thank you" Culture Approach daily tasks, projects, and follow‑up communication with energy and a sense of urgency Cultivate a deep desire to become a knowledge expert in the role and apply knowledge and experience with great impact Show respect and appreciation for others and Scheels Arrive to work and meetings 10 minutes early Team Mentality Show genuine interest and action in helping others before yourself, regardless of recognition or reward Teach‑ability Consistent eagerness to listen, learn, apply knowledge, and accept critical feedback Ability to adapt to a changing work environment Ability to apply basic math, grammar, punctuation, and spelling concepts Dress Code Meet Scheels dress and grooming expectations in support of a professional, clean, and welcoming environment Efficiency Demonstrate pride and ownership of work while meeting expected deadlines Education & Experience High School Diploma/GED; College graduate preferred Proven track record of strong communication and organization skills Preference for candidates with prior loss prevention experience (2‑3 years) Currently certified or willing to become certified in CPR and OC (Oleoresin Capsicum, pepper spray) foam deployment Schedule Must be flexible to work assigned schedule between 9 a.m. and 9 p.m., Monday through Saturday, 11 a.m. and 6 p.m., Sunday. Schedule includes varied hours, evenings, weekends, and holidays. Hours per week: 40 hours. Physical Requirements / Lifting Requirements Must be able to sit, stand, bend at the waist, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, walk, push/pull, lift, talk, and hear with or without reasonable accommodation. Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
