About This Role

Mālamalama Waldorf School is seeking warm, dependable Title I Math and Reading Tutors to support students through individualized and small group instruction. This role focuses on strengthening foundational skills in a calm and supportive environment while building student confidence. Tutors work within a Waldorf-inspired approach that integrates movement, rhythm, and creativity into academic support.

What You'll Do

Duties / Responsibilities
  • Provide small group and one-on-one instruction in reading and/or mathematics
  • Reinforce foundational skills through practice, repetition, and encouragement
  • Incorporate elements such as movement, rhythm, storytelling, and artistic engagement when appropriate
  • Support students’ academic growth while fostering confidence and engagement
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers and administration
  • Observe and respond to individual student needs with flexibility and care
  • Maintain a calm, structured, and supportive learning environment
  • Track student progress and participation
  • Follow all Title I requirements set by the State of Hawaiʻi and FACTS Educational Services

Requirements

Minimum Requirements
  • Experience working with children in an educational or caregiving setting
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Reliable, consistent, and able to maintain a steady presence with students

Nice To Haves

Preferred / Nice to Have
  • Familiarity with Waldorf education or holistic, child-centered approaches
  • Experience supporting students in reading and/or math
  • Experience with small group or individualized instruction
  • Creative approach to teaching and learning
