NONDESTRUCTIVE TEST INSPECTOR

Summary You will serve as a NONDESTRUCTIVE TEST INSPECTOR in the NDT Production Support Branch, Nondestructive Test and Nonnuclear Inspection Division, Code 1352 Quality Assurance Office, of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD. Responsibilities You will utilize the most advanced test methods and procedures insolving the most complex inspection problems. You will conduct radiographic inspections. You will perform calibration and safety checks of test equipment prior to and performance of NDT inspections. You will conduct liquid penetrant inspections to detect surface discontinuities in both ferrous and non ferrous materials and welds using both visible and fluorescent dyes. You will utilize a wide array of highly sophisticated, quality control inspection/NDT techniques as well as utilize many unique and specialty designed precision instruments and gauges Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. The Screen-out Element for this position is: ABILITY TO INSPECT Ability utilizing a wide array of highly sophisticated, quality control inspection/ NDT techniques as well as utilizing many unique and specially designed precision instruments and gauges. Ability setting up and reading an oscilloscope to be able to understand ultrasonic testing on work being performed. Ability to demonstrate manual dexterity and skill to operate and manipulate complex robotic scanners, probe drivers and x-ray source positioners in both manual and automated modes. Ability to read and interpret complicated written technical material as instructions, TGI's, specifications, procedures, sketches and blueprints.
