Toddler Assistant Teacher

Toddler Assistant Teacher Location: Lions Pride Childcare Program, Chelmsford Community Education Center, Chelmsford, Massachusetts Starting Date: Aug 27, 2026 Qualifications Early Childhood Teacher Certification or completion of a three-credit Child Growth and Development course, or equivalent preferred Experience working with age-appropriate students in a school setting Knowledge of classroom preparation and record-keeping requirements Related school experience desirable Demonstrated aptitude or competence for assigned responsibilities Alternatives approved by the Director of Community Education Reports To Childcare Supervisor and Director of Community Education Job Goal Assist in the coordination of the Community Education Early Childhood Programs to ensure proper instruction and activities for students. Performance Responsibilities Assist the teacher in providing the daily program plan Implement and create activities for small groups Accept and adhere to all guidelines set forth Report necessary problems and/or information to teacher or supervisor Confer with teachers, team leaders and other appropriate personnel regarding students' individualized needs Assist with the supervision of students Assume responsibility for classroom in teacher's short absence Assume responsibility for all necessary personal care needs of the children (diapering/toileting care and feeding requirements) Perform other related duties as directed or as responsibilities necessitate Attend and complete all required trainings Terms of Employment Start Date: 08/21/2025 Salary: $18.25 – $20.40 per hour based on experience and education Program hours: 7:00 am – 5:00 pm (shift 8:00 am – 4:30 pm) Work year: 186 days (180 school days, full professional day, day before school starts, one day after school ends, one set‑up day, one clean‑up day) Personal days: 3 days for personal, legal, business, religious, household or family matters (approved 5 school days prior, emergency may be oral) Sick days: 13 days Vacation: 4 days during December recess for 0‑4 years of service; 8 days during December and February recesses for 5‑14 years; 12 days during December, February and April recesses for more than 15 years Lunch break: 30 minutes; additional 15‑minute break scheduled by supervisor and teacher Evaluation Performance will be evaluated annually in writing by the Childcare Supervisor.
