LPN / LVN - Correctional Health

Licensed Practical NursePositions in this job family are assigned responsibilities for performing technical direct and indirect nursing care. This role is in a correctional facility medical clinic for individuals under the supervision or direction of a registered nurse or licensed physician. Responsibilities include taking vital signs and performing various technical nursing tasks to provide health care to patients.Typical functions include performing nursing procedures or specialized functions in accordance with knowledge and skills. Participating in the evaluation of responses to interventions. Assisting in assessing, reporting, and recording health status of patients in different settings. Participating in developing and implementing appropriate aspects of a plan of care. Administering medications as ordered. Reporting patient information to the supervisor or appropriate health team member.Level Descriptor: Level I: This is the basic level of the job family where employees perform routine entry-level tasks under close supervision to build skills in providing nursing care. Level II: This is the career level of this job family where employees perform a full range of nursing assignments at the full performance level. Responsibilities will include providing guidance and training to others in completing routine nursing tasks.Requirements: Completion of online training is required before assignment. Documentation of completed training shall be provided prior to assignment of temporary health care personnel. Education and Experience: Level I: Possession of a valid permanent license as a licensed practical nurse as approved by the nursing board. Level II: Possession of a valid permanent license as a licensed practical nurse plus one year of practical nursing experience. Special Requirements: Applicants may be required to fulfill job-related travel.
