Stephens & Associates (DBS&A), a Geo-Logic Associates Company DBS&A is seeking an on-call engineering intern entering their Junior or Senior year in college to join our diverse technical team. DBS&A is an engineering, water resources, and environmental consulting firm providing comprehensive services in groundwater and surface water hydrology and soil science. In this position, you will work hand-in-hand with a range of professionals with backgrounds in civil and environmental engineering; hydrology and geology; soil and environmental science; geographic information system (GIS) and computer aided design (CAD); and field and laboratory technology. As a subsidiary of Geo-Logic Associates (GLA), you will have access to 300 diverse professionals in 29 offices in the U.S. and Peru. Why we really want you in this job You are currently enrolled in a civil or environmental engineering bachelor’s or graduate degree program at an accredited university at the time of application and throughout the duration of the internship, and you will be entering at least your Junior year in Fall 2025. You want to put your bachelor’s (or master’s) degree in engineering to work on a wide range of projects that could include soil and groundwater remediation, landfill design and permitting, water resources design and management, stormwater management, or mining industry support. You are organized, have strong attention to detail, and a demonstrated aptitude for problem-solving, analytical thinking, and the ability to work independently. You can prioritize tasks, be self-aware enough to identify and correct your mistakes, and not be afraid to ask for help when needed. You are effective in a team environment that includes collaboration with engineers, hydrologists, and technical staff, as well as clients. You are highly effective in your written and verbal communication and are comfortable addressing technical (e.g., other engineers, hydrogeologists) or layperson audiences. You have experience or are interested in gaining experience with AutoCAD, ArcGIS, or similar software for managing geospatial data. You have a basic understanding of Microsoft Office products (e.g., Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Excel, and Teams) You must come in to the office during normal workday hours and set a consistent schedule. More about this opportunity on a day-to-day basis You will work with a team of highly talented individuals on a variety of small to large environmental and water resource projects. Typical tasks for an engineering intern may include: Working with the project team to compile necessary design documentation, including engineering calculations, drawings, technical specifications, contract documents, cost estimates, etc. Compilation of technical data/data analysis Preparing or editing drawings/ in AutoCAD Civil 3D Working with vendors of proposed equipment and/or materials Collecting field data and troubleshooting system and equipment operation Preparing reports and technical memos under the supervision of an engineer or manager (providing examples of technical writing is a plus) Construction documentation tracking and performing project SharePoint updates Assisting the administration team with any necessary duties, such as filing and organizing This position may require the ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. This position also requires that the potential employee pass a pre-employment drug screen.
