Summary Under the direction of, and in collaboration with unit management, performs responsibilities exercising initiative, judgment and independent decision-making within the scope of the State Nurse Practice Act, hospital policy and other governing organizations. Utilizes the nursing process (assessment, planning, intervention, evaluation) in a systematic approach to the direct and indirect care of patients and their families.Job DutiesThe essential functions of this job are identified with an asterisk (*) at the end of the bullet point.Obstetrics, Pediatrics, Medical, Surgical (inpatient/outpatient), Emergency, Senior Care, Nursery, Chemotherapy and Ambulance Transport as needed/delegated.Maintains certifications in all areas within scope of practice Supervision of LPNs, Nursing Assistants and Health Unit Coordinators as needed.*Demonstrates effective interviewing and assessment skills and integrates new or current techniques to obtain physical/psycho-social information from the patient/family to plan, implement, and evaluate patient care through the nursing process.*Initiates and maintains patient care plan to reflect current patient needs utilizing computerized documentation*Performs with minimal supervision, exercises good judgment to reduce errors. *Demonstrates willingness to work extra shifts if needed. *Demonstrates a willingness to train new staff. Attends annual skills fair. *Uses personal protective equipment that is appropriate for the given task. *Reports accidents or incidents and safety hazards promptly. *Cleans equipment, spills, etc. as necessary. *Identifies needs, instructs others, and actively supports the role of patient advocate/liaison by communication and documentation of patient information to the proper resources/agencies. *Proper computerized documentation will be maintained at all times.
