Job Description DEFINITION
To provide occupational therapy assessments, therapy and consultation to school district personnel for special education children, from birth to twenty two (22) years of age; to function as part of a multi disciplinary team providing integrated service to district students. SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED
Receives general supervision from the Special Education Director.
Exercises no supervision.
Examples of Duties EXAMPLES OF DUTIES
Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following: Evaluates student performance in a variety of areas including fine motor tasks, oral dysfunction sensory impairments, perceptual motor skills, posture and movement. Recommends methods and strategies to address student needs for therapy services. Collaborates with medical personnel and multi disciplinary team members in interpreting and implementing therapy services. Instructs teachers in positioning and handling techniques. Develops and reviews student goals and objectives in accordance with the Individualized Education Plan (IEP). Maintains records and documents. Attends meetings and conferences. Uses personal vehicle for travel related to duties. Performs related duties as assigned.
Qualifications EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION, AND TRAINING (These are the minimum experience and education/training standards which will be used to admit or reject applicants for examination, as approved on May 26, 1999.)
Experience providing occupational therapy in a pediatric clinical/educational setting.
AND
Bachelor's degree from an accredited university with major course work in Occupational
Therapy. LICENSES/CERTIFICATES/REGISTRATIONS
Current registration with the American Occupational Therapy Association or the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy.
A current American Red Cross CPR certification which includes children and adults.
An appropriate, valid California driver's license and auto liability insurance.*

THE EXAMINATION:
Fingerprinting, drug and tuberculosis testing is required of all successful candidates new to the district .
