Registered Nurse - Med Surg 6S Bordley - Weekend Program Days

Job Summary The Registered Nurse is a professional practitioner who assesses, manages, directs, and provides nursing care activities during the patient’s hospital stay and coordinates planning with other disciplines utilizing a patient/customer driven approach. Position Type: Regular Schedule: Weekends, 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM Work Location: MO-SSM Health Saint Louis University Hospital, 1201 Grand Responsibilities Perform comprehensive nursing assessment/reassessment, including admission and transfer assessments. Accurately document findings and maintain complete patient records. Evaluate patients and formulate a plan of care based on assessment data, diagnoses, lab results, physician orders, and established protocols. Implement and document nursing interventions, monitoring medication administration, IV fluids, and parenteral nutrition. Collaborate with health team members and coordinate daily plans of care for assigned patients. Communicate patient care, including handoff reports and verbal orders, with accuracy and professionalism. Provide patient and family education and discharge planning in accordance with documentation guidelines. Administer medications and monitor for changes in patient condition, responding appropriately to critical situations. Implement specialized care for high‑risk patients, including restraint care, pain management, and abuse assessment. Maintain infection control practices and work safely with hazardous materials. Document ongoing evaluation of care effectiveness and modify the plan of care as needed. Participate in performance and quality improvement initiatives and contribute to the maintenance of nursing quality indicators. Qualifications Licensed Registered Nurse in the state of Missouri. Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider (BLS HCP) – American Heart Association. Current state nursing license and completion of mandatory certifications (e.g., BLS, Advanced Cardiac Life Support if required). Strong communication, critical thinking, and teamwork skills.
