Radiologic Technologist

Job Summary Demonstrates a thorough knowledge of all aspects of General Diagnostic Radiology, adhering to departmental protocols and policies. Obtains and maintains active status of RT(R) credentials. Utilizes technical knowledge to assist in troubleshooting equipment and protocol issues. Shares expertise with colleagues and students within the work unit. Job Responsibilities Ensure patient demographics, markers, and examination requests are correct. Critique, orient, and save pertinent images, transmit QA-ed images to PACS, and ensure all images reach PACS. Document completion and/or cancellation of procedures in RIS, including comments when appropriate. Maintain image management equipment and report any issues to appropriate resources. Utilize PACS and HIS systems for additional study data. Perform work in a timely manner, consistently produce quality radiographic images, analyze requests, and develop action plans. Review radiographic orders and images, ensuring accuracy of information. Maintain a clean and safe work environment, document incidents, and advise supervisors on improvement opportunities. Effectively use RIS, CIS, PACS, and SMS to access information and document procedure status. Modify orders as needed, complete exams in RIS, QC, and transmit information to PACS, and verify proper arrival of information in PACS. Verify patient identity, obtain relevant patient history, and verify pregnancy status before administering ionizing radiation. Assess patients' physical conditions and develop action plans for examinations. Determine if additional medical personnel or equipment is needed and take appropriate action. Assist patients requiring extra attention and react to emergency situations to ensure patient safety. Skills & Experience Required Skills & Experience: No prior experience required. Preferred Skills & Experience: N/A Education Required Education: Accredited Associate's Degree or completion of an accredited Radiologic Sciences Program. Preferred Education: N/A Required Certifications & Licensure ARRT Certified in Radiography. Must maintain registry status and continuing education requirements annually.
