Job Title

Registered Nurse – Medical Surgical / Neurology

Location

Wilmington, NC | Acute Care

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Nights (3x12-hour shifts, 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM) | Expected 36–48 hours/week | 13–20 week assignments

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on a neurology-focused medical-surgical unit with a 1:6 nurse-to-patient ratio
• Manage and care for patients with general medicine and neurological diagnoses
• Utilize EPIC for clinical documentation and Pyxis for medication administration; apply SBAR communication standards
• Maintain a teamwork-oriented approach with a strong focus on patient safety
• Fulfill weekend requirements, with an expected 5–6 weekend shifts per contract (approximately every other weekend)
• May be assigned to a Storm Team and/or Hurricane Team and may be expected to report during catastrophic events, mass casualty incidents, or disasters; unit reassignment mid-contract is possible based on facility need

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license in North Carolina or a Compact state (pending licensure considered for submission)
• Minimum of 2 years of RN experience required
• ACLS and BLS certifications required
• Must pass EKG testing prior to start
• Must be open to floating within or near the facility as needed; travelers float first
• Local candidates are welcome to apply

Preferred Experience / Skills

• NIH Stroke Scale certification preferred
• Prior neurology nursing experience preferred
• Experience in or willingness to learn the charge nurse role preferred
