NEW Pathologist Assistant Opportunity - Full Time

Location: Reno, NV Area


Overview:
Seeking a Pathologist Assistant to join a growing pathology group opening a brand-new laboratory in Reno, NV (target opening August 2026). This is a unique opportunity to step into a foundational, solo PA role and help build workflows and processes from the ground up in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.


Key Responsibilities:

• Perform gross examination of small and complex surgical specimens
• Ensure accurate specimen handling, dictation, and documentation
• Collaborate with pathologists and lab staff to maintain workflow efficiency
• Maintain quality standards and compliance with laboratory protocols
• Support daily operations in a growing lab environment
• Adapt to fluctuating case volumes as the site ramps up

What to Expect:

• Estimated 50-80 cases per day
• No autopsies
• Solo Pathologist Assistant onsite
• Team includes histology techs and lab support staff
• Occasional travel to nearby locations may be required

Schedule:

• Full-time, Monday-Friday
• Flexible hours (shifts scheduled within 8:00am-7:00pm)

Requirements:

• ASCP certification (required)
• Eligible for Nevada state laboratory licensure
• Strong grossing experience and ability to work independently

Preferred:

• Experience in high-volume surgical pathology settings
• Comfortable working in a start-up/expanding lab environment
