PRN Medical Assistant - Pain Management
Naval Medical Center Portsmouth - Portsmouth, VA
Are you a skilled Medical Assistant looking to support active-duty service members and their families? We are seeking a dependable and compassionate Medical Assistant to join a Pain Management team in a professional military healthcare setting. .

Position Requirements

High school diploma or GED
Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program (CAAHEP or ABHES) or completion of a U.S. Armed Forces medical training program
Minimum 1 year of Medical Assistant experience within the past 3 years
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
No licensure or board certification required

Key Responsibilities

Assist providers during exams and procedures
Perform patient intake, record vital signs, and document chief complaints
Administer medications and immunizations as directed by the physician
Place IV catheters and perform blood draws
Obtain lab and imaging results
Schedule appointments and communicate test results to patients
Maintain accurate medical records and scan documentation
Support clinic flow and provide direct patient care
Operate clinical equipment including EKG machines, thermometers, infusion pumps, and blood pressure monitors
Follow sterilization procedures and assist with specimen handling
Perform administrative and front desk duties as needed
