Project Manager, T&D

A growing electrical contractor is hiring a Project Manager / Estimator for its Dayton-area transmission and distribution office. You will manage utility T&D projects from bid through final client acceptance, and learn to build the estimates yourself with training and guidance. The office is small, so you get real project ownership, visibility with leadership, and several jobs at once. Strong performers have a clear path to senior and leadership roles as the Ohio business grows. Anticipated base $110K-$130K, based on experience Annual bonus target of 25% of base, with payout that can run above target Company vehicle in year one, then a $1,200 monthly vehicle allowance Benefits include: Health, dental, vision 401K with match, Profit sharing, PTO, 8 paid holidays Overview Manage assigned T&D projects from bid preparation through final client acceptance Build project estimates from specifications, drawings, and takeoffs, with training and guidance (estimating experience is helpful but not required) Keep each project on schedule, on budget, and in line with design, code, and contract, and run a recovery plan when the schedule slips Work with foremen and superintendents to keep crews productive and materials and equipment used efficiently Own monthly job cost reporting on projects over $200K: cost-to-complete projections, billings, and executed change orders Price extra work and issue change orders, and keep submittals, purchase orders, and billing documents complete and accurate Visit job sites and walk every bid before the estimate goes out, with regular travel and occasional overnights Work on-site at the office each day (flexible 8-hour schedule, no hybrid); Dayton-area office, Columbus-area candidates may be considered Preferred Skills and Experience Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field (equivalent technical training and experience considered) Project management certification preferred Strongly Preferred - 4+ years of construction management, ideally in T&D, utility, or electrical contracting Strongly Preferred - Experience on overhead or underground distribution projects for utility customers Estimating, takeoff, or bid preparation experience (training provided) Experience working with foremen, superintendents, and craft crews Experience with cost tracking, change orders, and billing on fixed price, unit price, or MSA work Knowledge of construction methods, codes, schedules, and safety Advanced Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint Safe driving record and a valid driver's license Keywords transmission and distribution, T&D, electrical contractor, electrical construction, utility contractor, overhead distribution, underground distribution, line construction, directional boring, distribution lines, substation, construction management, project management, estimating, bid preparation, cost to complete, WIP reporting, change orders, MSA work, unit price, fixed price, utility clients, crew productivity, Dayton, Ohio, Columbus, Cincinnati, direct hire, project manager / estimator EEO
