Civil Superintendent


An experienced Civil Superintendent is required to oversee civil construction activities across a major infrastructure project. This role will be responsible for coordinating site operations, supervising subcontractors and ensuring all works are delivered safely, efficiently and to the required quality standards.


Working closely with the Project Manager, site management team, engineers and contractors, you will provide strong day-to-day leadership on site. You will monitor progress against programme, resolve construction issues and ensure activities comply with approved designs, specifications and relevant legislation.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise civil construction works, including earthworks, drainage, concrete, utilities, roads and associated infrastructure.
• Coordinate subcontractors, direct labour, plant and materials to maintain efficient site operations.
• Interpret drawings, specifications, method statements and construction programmes.
• Monitor productivity, workmanship and progress, reporting risks, delays and variations to the project team.
• Promote a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with health, safety and environmental requirements.
• Attend site meetings and contribute to planning, sequencing and coordination of upcoming works.
• Inspect completed activities and support quality assurance, testing, documentation and handover processes.
• Maintain accurate daily records, including site diaries, labour returns, plant usage and progress updates.

About you


You will have proven experience as a Civil Superintendent, General Foreman or Senior Site Supervisor within civil engineering, utilities, infrastructure or construction. A strong understanding of construction methods, site coordination and project controls is essential, together with the confidence to lead teams and manage competing priorities.


You should be able to read and understand technical drawings, communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels and make sound decisions in a busy site environment. Relevant civil engineering or construction qualifications, along with appropriate site safety training, would be advantageous.
