A day in this role

Morning starts with a field walk. You review layout control, verify line and grade for the next work activities, and confirm dimensions against design drawings. You huddle with subcontractors and in-house crews to sequence scopes—formwork and temporary structures, laydown planning, materials handling routes, crew sizing, and equipment needs. Trucks arrive; you coordinate inbound and outbound shipments to keep the site flowing. As work progresses, you perform daily quality control checks for both self-performed and subcontracted tasks, resolving any quality assurance issues on the spot. You lead safety conversations, model proper PPE and jobsite attire, and enforce all safety and accident-prevention programs. When the Superintendent is away, you run point—directing site operations, managing conflicts, and keeping the schedule and budget on track. Throughout the day, you track labor and general material costs, purchase routine materials, requisition rental equipment, and flag any owner-requested extras or scope gaps to management. You coach standout performers into the Permanent Construction Employee (PCE) pipeline, provide feedback, and complete formal reviews to grow the team.

What you'll take ownership of

• Oversee assigned phases/scopes on modular and conventional construction projects, with travel to project sites as required.
• Coordinate and direct trades and subcontractors for your phases/scopes; sequence tasks and resources.
• Plan construction means and methods: formwork and temporary structures, laydown areas, material flow, crew deployment, equipment, and task sequencing.
• Purchase general materials and submit equipment rental requisitions.
• Identify outstanding craftworkers for the Permanent Construction Employee (PCE) program; train and develop assigned PCEs for advancement.
• Alert management when extra work is requested or when site conditions exceed the estimate/contract scope.
• Recommend hiring, termination, and discipline for project-based staff and subcontractors you supervise; resolve conflicts and handle complaints.
• Deliver performance reviews for assigned employees.
• Lead layout for your scopes, produce accurate line/grade, verify drawing dimensions, and coordinate shop drawings.
• Inspect work quality for self-performed and subcontracted activities; resolve QA deficiencies and maintain daily QC.
• Enforce company safety and accident programs; set the standard for appropriate dress and safety awareness.
• Serve as acting site lead in the Superintendent’s absence.
• Coordinate inbound and outbound truck shipments.

What you bring

• High school diploma and 5+ years of applicable construction experience, including 2+ years in a supervisory role; or a 4-year degree in Building Construction or related field may substitute year-for-year for experience.
• Strong organization, attention to detail, and clear verbal communication.
• Ability to independently follow complex written and verbal instructions—and to provide effective instructions in both formats.
• Keen analytical and observational skills; excels at troubleshooting under pressure.
• Proven ability to manage resources, schedules, and materials amid competing priorities.
• Working knowledge of applicable building codes and fluent in reading/interpreting design drawings.
• Deep understanding of construction procedures and safety practices; strong delegation and time management.
• Current First Aid and CPR certifications.
• OSHA 10-hour certification current within the past three years.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
