Senior Business Analyst

Job Description

A mid-career Business Analyst (5-10 years) from the insurance industry who understands premium billing, deductible billing, AR operations, and reconciliations. This person should be highly analytical, comfortable living in the details of financial processes, able to document current-state workflows, and capable of partnering with IT teams to create automation solutions. The team is looking for a hands-on problem solver, not a project manager or purely technical BA. They need someone who understands the business, can articulate problems that stakeholders struggle to define, and can help drive modernization within a heavily manual environment.

Skills and Requirements

5-10 years of Business Analyst experience supporting Finance, Accounting, Billing, or Accounts Receivable functions

Commercial Insurance industry experience

Experience with:

Policy onboarding

Premium billing

Deductible billing

Monthly invoicing

Reconciliations

Proven ability to translate business requirements from Finance/Accounting teams to IT teams

Strong process documentation and process improvement experience

Experience identifying manual processes and developing automation solutions

Experience working heavily in Excel-driven environments

Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities

Experience supporting ERP implementations, enhancements, or business systems transformations

Understanding of:

AR Aging

Cash flow processes

Billing operations

Financial reconciliations

Ability to work as a hands-on individual contributor ("doer")

Bachelor's Degree Experience with PeopleSoft

Public accounting background

Insurance carrier experience

Experience leading accounting or billing teams

Experience with billing automation initiatives

Exposure to offshore teams and vendor management

Understanding of agency and producer relationships
