Senior Software Engineer - Huntsville

Job Details Position: Software Engineer (Embedded & Systems) – Onsite. Location: Huntsville, Alabama, USA. Posted: 2026-05-20. Salary range: $86,800 – $165,200. Security clearance: Secret (interim government‑issued). U.S. citizenship required. Clearance granted by DCSA. Job Responsibilities Participate in collaborative, cross‑discipline integrated product teams, employing agile software development techniques to develop, test, and integrate complex software and systems solutions for aerospace and defense applications. Assist in requirements, design, development, and testing of real‑time embedded software, application software, and tools, including development of new work products or enhancement of existing products and systems. Stay current with industry trends and advancements in modern languages, AI, DevSecOps, and other methodologies and technologies relevant to complex systems. Work collaboratively with Systems and Integration Test Engineers to analyze, implement, and test integrated systems. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics. Minimum five (5) years of relevant experience in software development, integration, and/or testing using C++, Java, Ada or a similar object‑oriented language. Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government‑issued interim Secret security clearance prior to start date. U.S. citizenship. Preferred Qualifications Active Secret security clearance. Experience developing complex systems and applications using object‑oriented programming. Experience with Agile lifecycle methodologies (Scrum, continuous integration, test‑driven development). Self‑motivated problem solver with initiative to resolve technical or process gaps. Familiarity with leading small teams (estimating effort, decomposing tasks, tracking progress). Experience with multi‑threading, memory management, and performance optimization in complex environments. Shell scripting (tcsh, csh, bash), use of Git/Clearcase, and software debugging tools. Embedded real‑time or large‑scale application experience. Experience in Agile environments such as Scrum @ Scale, SAFe, DevSecOps. Ability to work in fast‑paced, dynamic settings with time‑critical requirements. Knowledge of RedHat and/or Linux operating systems.
