Community Specialist

Pearl Abyss America, Inc. - the team behind Black Desert and Crimson Desert as well as the upcoming titles DokeV and Plan8 - is seeking a high-performing, creative, results-oriented and quality-obsessed Community Specialist to help accelerate our gaming reach to millions of customers across all platforms (PC, Console) in North America. The video game industry is transforming how players are entertained, communicating with each other, and interacting online and on their digital devices. Our team is looking for a Community Specialist with an entrepreneurial spirit and relentless tenacity to get things done. You’ll be empowered to be an advocate for players’ voices and a liaison between them and the development team – constantly managing the conversations, feedback, and proactively building bridges and trust within the community. Our Community Specialists genuinely love video games, the players, and their communities; their passion for games helps them improve the quality of the game’s live service. In this role, you will actively interact with the players both in-game and in the community – working closely with other team members in the live service department. LOCATION Manhattan Beach, CA (on-site) JOB TYPE Full-time PAY RANGE $21 - $25 per hour RESPONSIBILITIES Plan social postings for official Black Desert social channels and interact with players on the platforms Create or assist in creating visual assets and copywriting for social postings Respond to live game issues that occur in-game and write up appropriate notices on the forum and social channels when necessary Create event plans for the player communities and execute them during live service Work closely with the Content Production team to create community content (ex: short-form videos) Work closely with Live Service Specialists, Customer Support, and other Community Specialists/Managers to solicit feedback and suggestions for game improvement from the community Monitor and regularly report on live-service issues and player feedback Monitor regularly live-streaming channels and social channels, and work closely with partner influencers Coordinate and support the community moderators to uphold community guidelines and enhance player interactions Perform other related duties as assigned MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS 2+ years of work experience in the video game industry, especially in community management, customer support, QA, or related fields Experience in social media management (Facebook, Twitter/X, Instagram, TikTok, etc.) Extensive knowledge and gameplay of MMORPG games Prior experience interacting with gaming communities (forums, social media user groups, etc.) Experience in social content creation and posting, calendar publishing, asset creation, copywriting, reporting, and analytics Strong customer service skills and interpersonal communication skills Strong written communication skills for announcements or forum notices, with a great sense of humor Ability to quickly problem solve, communicate, and deliver the best results in a fast-paced, high-volume environment Creativity, curiosity, and a willingness to learn and grow Professional and mature demeanor, along with strong time-management and organization skills for coordinating multiple initiatives and priorities *Travel may be required for this position PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, or any equivalent work experience Experience as a content creator, cosplayer, or live streamer within the video game community Graphic design or video production/editing skills Avid Black Desert player Passion for video games with an interest in MMORPGs Bilingual in English/Japanese or English/Korean is a plus PEARL ABYSS AMERICA BENEFITS In addition to having a great culture, some of our benefits include: Healthcare plan (medical, dental, and vision) 100% covered by the company for you and up to 3 of your dependents Life insurance (basic, voluntary, and AD&D) Retirement plan (401k) – company matching up to 5% Pet insurance covered by the company for our employees’ pets (up to 3 pets) Lifestyle Wallet - $170/month individual allowance Tiny Human Wallet - $500/month child subsidy Paid time off (PTO) – Vacation, sick days, public holidays, and winter break Family leave (maternity and paternity) Company-sponsored Korean classes Free gym access in the company office building Free lunch in the office Stocked kitchen Regular team outings, company events, and more!
