Senior Systems Engineer - TS/SCI with Polygraph

Position Overview *Position is currently located in Elkridge, MD and will relocate to another site in the National Capital Region in Summer 2026* Transform technology into opportunity: A Systems Engineer with GDIT plays a pivotal role in enhancing enterprise IT by connecting and improving systems used by agencies. The role ensures current operational safety and future intelligence. Key Responsibilities Develop and apply advanced engineering and design methods, theories, and research techniques to investigate and solve complex system requirements, hardware/software interfaces, and application solutions. Operate and sustain the ongoing daily operational use of VMware infrastructure, including updates, testing, and deployments of vSphere and vCenter product releases. Manage and administer physical and virtual servers, primarily Windows and Linux, and support server virtualization, provisioning, maintenance, security compliance, and daily operations. Validate VMware vSphere, focusing on automation, and administer enterprise storage and backup systems. Maintain the server lifecycle: provisioning, maintenance, and decommissioning of hardware. Configure, implement, manage, and support the virtualized server environment. Monitor the virtual server infrastructure’s health status, service performance, and utilization. Implement and maintain continuous compliance with information security policies and technical standards, reporting and remediating non‑compliance. Configure the security baseline and perform remediation activities. Troubleshoot, maintain integrity, and configure network components, while implementing operating system enhancements to improve reliability and performance. Integrate new technologies into existing systems, including transitions and migrations of corporate systems. Perform systems administration of desktop and server systems connected to LAN and WAN, including account monitoring, security, OS installation, and system administration functions. Provide installation and operational support for voice and data communications hardware and software systems. Diagnose and troubleshoot storage systems and related technologies. Oversee installation of new storage hardware and software following standard operating procedures. Configure operating system and security patches for host and distributed systems and implement incident response procedures during a security breach. Review customer requirements and recommend changes to existing technical architecture. Ensure compliance with prescribed customer, industry, and agency standards. Support IT systems including day‑to‑day operations, monitoring, and problem resolution for server, storage, network devices, mobile devices, and enterprise data center components. Assist with special projects as required. Qualifications BA/BS degree and at least 8 years of relevant experience. DoD Manual 8570.01‑M Information Assurance Technical (IAT) Level II certification. TS/SCI clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain a polygraph. Working technical competency with Microsoft Windows Server, Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Hyper‑V/VMware/ESX/Xen hypervisors, and scripting tools. Experience with NetApp and other storage technologies, SAN, NAS, and iSCSI implementations. Experience with capacity planning, sizing, performance tuning, and optimization of storage and backup environments. Experience with data center migrations, storage replication technologies, and large‑scale system design, development, implementation, and maintenance across multiple hardware platforms and data centers.
