Shift Type: Nights, 12-hour shifts (7:00 PM - 7:00 AM), 4 weekend shifts per 4 weeks, holidays based on unit coverage

Hours per Week: 36

Candidate Pay Rate: $60.20 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities

• Deliver exceptional emergency care to patients in a fast-paced Level 1 Trauma Center
• Perform critical skills like Foley catheter insertion, central line dressing changes, and port-a-cath insertion
• Monitor patients using Phillips telemetry monitors and accurately interpret strips
• Maintain a sterile field during SIMs Lab and in daily practice
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team including hospitalists, intensivists, and respiratory therapists
• Float seamlessly between St. Joseph's Main, Westgate, AZ General Laveen, and Free Standing ERs
• Educate patients and families on treatment plans and ongoing care
• Document accurately and efficiently in Cerner

Qualifications

• Active RN license in Arizona or a compact state
• BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required
• At least 6 months of Trauma Level 1 experience
• 2 years of ER experience preferred, but manager will consider less
• TNCC and ATCN certifications are a plus
• Ability to read telemetry strips
• Cerner experience is helpful
• Must have your own vehicle for travel between facilities
• Natural hair color and no facial piercings
• Men must be clean-shaven for fit test
• Pass a DYS exam prior to accepting
• Pass a day 1 pass/fail exam and SIMs Lab

Education

• Unit: ED / Trauma
• # beds: Acute - 36 and Subacute - 54. Trauma bays - 6 (no travelers)
• Required Certs: BLS, ACLS, PALS
• Preferred Certs: TNCC and ATCN
• *ENPC not allowed to replace PALS Cert**
• Ratios: 1:4 ratio
• EMR: Cerner
• Charge Nurse: 2 Charge RNs - will task or have light patient load.
• Nurse Aides: 4-PCTs for sitters.
• Weekend Requirement: 4 weekend shifts per month, at unit discretion (Saturday and Sundays are weekends)
• Scrub Color: Navy
• Tele: Phillips monitors, must be able to read strips.
• Vents: Managed by RT
• Hospitalist or Intensivists in house: Minimum of 2 MDs or as many as 8. Midlevels also utilized. Anesthesia
• IV Team: Core RNs are US trained.
• RT 24/7: Yes
• Pharmacy 24/7: Yes, Pharmacist in ER 10hrs/day
• Shifts: per job posting
• Floating: first to float
• sister campus Westgate or AZ General Laveen, FSED West Valley, Litchfield Park & Glendale.
• Floor specific orientation: 2-3 shifts on the floor.
• Common diagnosis / Types of patients: Trauma, Burns and Peds transferred out. CP Center, Spinal Cord TBIN certification. 88,000 patients per year, 250-300 per day.
