Job DescriptionCompliance and Risk Services has an outstanding opportunity for a Compliance Analyst to join their team.About this OpportunityReporting to the Public Records Officer, the Compliance Analyst position is a delegated responsibility for public records requests of a more complex nature. The role involves reviewing and analyzing the Washington State Public Records Act, HIPAA, FERPA, trade secret and intellectual property laws, and other state and federal statutes. The Compliance Analyst works closely with faculty and staff, as appropriate , to determine if any portion of the records may be exempted under these statutes or under case law.This role also collaborates with internal and external customers to help them understand the Public Records Act, including their obligations and the University’s responsibilities in responding to public records requests. Additionally, the position prepares statistics and reports at the request of the office’s management.Key Responsibilities:Records Review/Legal Analysis (60%)Legal Correspondence (25%)Administrative Tasks (10%)Open Public Meetings ( 5% )Requirements:• Bachelor’s Degree in Records Management, Business Administration, or any area requiring analytical thinking, research, and excellent writing skills to include four years’ experience in public relations, records management, library sciences, public policy, or law.• Equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills have been acquired may substitute for degree .• Experience in the field of Washington State Public Records compliance or in discovery review.• Position requires excellent judgment and analytical skills.• Must be able to identify issues that should be brought to the attention of office’s management before taking independent action.• Must be able to work with high volumes under strict legal deadlines.• Demonstrates discretion and tact while working with highly sensitive and confidential materials.• Needs excellent writing skills and must have excellent attention to detail.• Requires proficiency in MS Word, Excel Outlook, and Access.• Demonstrated experience in working on diverse groups and teams; respects, values, and contributes to UW’s commitment to diversity, inclusion, and equity.Desired:• Those with backgrounds in freedom of information, public relations, records management or library sciences, public policy, or the law may find this position of special interest.• Experience in a large research institution or research university is desirable.• Experience with the Washington State Sunshine Laws or other FOI statutes is preferred, as is work in any compliance operation.About the Team:Compliance and Risk Services plans, organizes, and directs all University-wide risk management functions, including:Civil Rights ComplianceRisk Management & Records ComplianceCompliance ServicesPrivacy & TechnologyWe will begin screening completed application materials upon receipt through the close date.Compensation, Benefits and Position DetailsPay Range Minimum:$69,576.00 annualPay Range Maximum:$80,004.00 annualOther Compensation:-Benefits:For information about benefits for this position, visit Shift (United States of America)Temporary or Regular?This is a regular positionFTE (Full-Time Equivalent):100.00%Union/Bargaining Unit:Not ApplicableAbout the UWWorking at the University of Washington provides a unique opportunity to change lives – on our campuses, in our state and around the world.UW employees bring their boundless energy, creative problem-solving skills and dedication to building stronger minds and a healthier world.
