Job Description - Licensed Practical Nurse - 20071931 (260004C5) Organization Rehabilitation & Correction - Madison Correctional Institution Work Location Madison Correctional Institute 1851 State Route 56 London 43140 Primary Location United States of America-OHIO-Madison County-London Compensation $58,000 Schedule Full-time Union OCSEA Primary Job Skill Nursing Technical Skills Basic Medical Procedures Medical Charting Medication Management Direct Support / Direct Care Nursing Professional Skills Cultural Awareness Customer Focus Problem Solving Teamwork Confidentiality Responsibilities Provides patient care as directed Documents patient related care timely within the electronic health record Maintains patient medical records Administers medication (oral and intramuscular, and intravenous if certified) Performs treatments Assists with doctor’s sick call Assists with chronic care clinic management Participates in patient care planning and treatment team activities Responds to emergencies Provides emergency care and collects patient data Collects vital signs and documents findings Collects urine and/or body fluid specimens May perform venipuncture for laboratory analysis Prepares patients for release or transfer, completing summaries as appropriate Ensures discharge medication orders are completed and forwarded to pharmacy services Participates in work-related training and institution training exercises Provides assistance to other healthcare staff Investigates and documents problem areas or concerns Reviews shift report from preceding shift(s) Assists physicians with medical procedures Assumes duties of other nurses during absences Observes, documents and supports assistive personnel (nurse aides, psychiatric attendants, patient care assistants) Provides patient education on health maintenance and disease prevention Participates in continuous quality improvement activities Schedules multidisciplinary team meetings Performs and/or assists with inventory and ordering of medical supplies Assists ancillary staff (Health Information Technicians, medical schedulers) to meet patient care needs Works overtime as required Benefits Medical Coverage Free Dental, Vision, and Basic Life Insurance premiums after eligibility period Paid time off including vacation, personal, sick leave and 11 paid holidays per year Childbirth, Adoption, and Foster Care leave Education and Development Opportunities (Employee Development Funds, Public Service Loan Forgiveness, and more) Qualifications License to practice nursing as a licensed practical nurse issued by Ohio Board of Nursing pursuant to Section 4723 Ohio Revised Code; MDS certification issued by ANNAC (American Association of Nurse Assessment Coordination).
