Production & Inventory Control Planner

Insight Global is searching for a Production & Inventory Control Planner for an industrial manufacturing client. The Production & Inventory Control Planner will be responsible for coordinating and expediting the flow of materials and production activities across multiple departments to ensure on-time customer delivery and efficient execution of the production schedule. This individual will monitor production progress, identify and resolve constraints, and provide timely communication regarding production status, inventory levels, costs, and issues that may impact customer commitments and service levels. The planner will play a critical role in balancing customer demand, production capacity, and material availability while supporting company objectives related to inventory accuracy, operational efficiency, and customer satisfaction.

Day-to-day responsibilities include reviewing production orders, conducting material shortage analysis, supporting cycle count activities, maintaining shop orders, and ensuring planning data accuracy within ERP/MRP systems. The planner will lead daily production meetings with Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, and Customer Service teams to align priorities and address production challenges. This person will develop production schedules, validate alignment with the Master Production Schedule (MPS), proactively identify risks to delivery commitments, and coordinate recovery plans when shortages or capacity constraints arise.

Skills and Requirements

Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience

Minimum 2+ years of experience in production planning, scheduling, inventory control, or a related role within an MRP-driven manufacturing environment

Experience utilizing ERP and MRP systems in a manufacturing setting

Working knowledge of production planning methodologies, capacity planning, and machine shop scheduling

Experience with Kanban and Lean Manufacturing principles

Ability to create, manage, and maintain production schedules and shop orders

Experience analyzing material shortages, inventory levels, and production constraints

Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, including reporting and metric analysis

Ability to read and interpret basic mechanical drawings, routings, and work instructions Oracle ERP experience

Experience supporting prototype through volume production environments

Previous experience leading daily production or planning meetings

Experience with Master Production Scheduling (MPS)

Exposure to continuous improvement initiatives, Lean projects, and 5S methodology

Experience supporting highly regulated manufacturing environments

Knowledge of inventory optimization and work-in-process reduction strategies
