Structural & Tunneling Engineer

STV currently has an opening in our New York City office for a Structural & Tunneling Engineer in our Centers of Excellence division. In this position as a Senior Structural/Tunneling Engineer, you will have the opportunity to work as part of a team of engineers and designers on multiple projects for the Transportation and Infrastructure department. STV’s culture promotes exposure to and interaction with multiple design disciplines within a healthy work-life balance.Duties and Responsibilities:Lead and oversee the design and analysis of complex underground structures, such as tunnels, caverns, and underground transit systemsDevelop design budget and schedule.Work closely with other engineers, architects, and construction professionals to ensure that designs meet project specifications and requirementsManage and direct site investigations and surveys to assess soil conditions, rock formations, and other factors that could impact the design of underground structuresDevelop and review construction plans, drawings, and specifications for underground structures, and supervise the work of junior and mid-level engineers and techniciansConduct advanced structural calculations and analyses as necessary to determine load capacities, stability, and safety factors, and review and approve calculations prepared by junior and mid-level engineersUse computer-aided design (CAD) software and other tools as necessary to create and modify design drawings and models and supervise the work of junior and mid-level engineers and technicians \Perform QA/QC checking of projects completed by other engineers.Prepare and review project reports and documentation, and communicate with clients and other stakeholders regarding project progress and issuesMonitor construction activities to ensure that they are in compliance with the design plans and specifications, and resolve any construction-related issues that arise during the projectMentor and train junior and mid-level engineers to help them develop their skills and expertise in structural engineering for underground structuresQualifications:Minimum B.S. Degree in Civil engineering.
