Job Description

Job Summary:
The Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) performs a variety of technical, clerical, and quality assurance procedures within the laboratory, supporting accurate testing and timely results for patient care. They operate and maintain laboratory equipment, analyze samples, and assist with specimen collection to ensure high standards of clinical diagnostics.

Responsibilities:

• Analyze laboratory findings, verifying the accuracy of test results and clinical data.
• Operate, calibrate, and maintain laboratory instruments across chemistry, hematology, microbiology, and blood bank disciplines.
• Prepare, examine, and analyze blood, tissue, and other biological specimens for various chemical and cellular components.
• Enter test results and analytical data into computer systems, ensuring proper storage and documentation.
• Monitor quality assurance programs and conduct troubleshooting to uphold laboratory accuracy and compliance.
• Collect blood samples from patients of all ages, including venipuncture and capillary draws, following proper procedures and instructing staff as needed.

Qualifications:

• Active Washington State Phlebotomist License and MA-P License required.
• Proven experience with specimen collection, laboratory testing, and instrument calibration.
• Knowledge of laboratory quality control processes and related compliance standards.
• Strong analytical skills for interpreting complex laboratory data.
• Ability to operate laboratory equipment, troubleshoot technical issues, and maintain documentation.
• Effective communication skills for providing test results and collaborating with medical staff.
