Mental Health Technician

Austin Oaks Hospital offers a continuum of psychiatric services for adolescents and for adults. Located in South Austin, Texas on a beautiful thirteen-acre oak lined campus. Austin Oaks Hospital provides inpatient and outpatient psychiatric services to stabilize symptoms of depression, anxiety and other behavioral health disorders.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Mental Health Technicians Weekends: Saturday and Sunday 7a-11p, to provide direct patient care under the supervision of the charge nurse. Responsibilities include the provision of a safe and therapeutic milieu, crisis intervention and assistance with activities of daily living. The Mental Health Technician must demonstrate flexibility for reassignment to units providing care to varied populations including adults as well as adolescents.

Qualifications:

• Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent.
• Experience: One year prior psychiatric experience preferred.
• Licensure/Certification: CPR Certification.
• Human behavior preferred including therapeutic relationships & processes, age specific growth & development, limit setting, crisis & behavior management.
